to save the battery. However, if you are making a call, the

nected.
The back light comes on again when you press a key, or
when a

You can turn the back Nght OFF ait the tin^e wHh Special

Jl the phone is powered trom an external source via the
receptacle at the bottom of the phone, the back light will be
ON ^1 the time, unless you have turned the It OFF with
Special Function No. 5-
Audible Signals
Flinging Signal
The ringing signal sounds when a call Is received, it will be
repeated until you answer the call, or the call is terminated
by the ceJIular network. Special Function No. t allows you
to adjust the volume o1 the ringing signal. You can also turn
the ringing signal OFF, Special tunctlon No. 2 allows you to
adjust the tone ol the nn^ng signal.
Vou can have one volume and tone setting when you use
the phone e$ e handheld unil and another setting when you
use it as a handsliree phone.
Low Ballery Alarm Signal
A long beep will be heard when the attached battery Is be¬
coming exhausled. The warning LOWS ATTERY will be dis¬
played for ten seconds. The PWR hdicalor bJirti<s in the
display. Refer to the preceding chapter^ Bsttsriss and
Recharging.
Error Signal
A short beep tells you If you do something wrong. For ex¬
ample. H you try to store a phone number In a memory ioca^
tion that is already in use.
Confirmation Click
When you hokt dowr^ the Power key, a click tells you when
the phone Is actually turned
