operating Instructions
prestart checklist
• Check oil level before each start -up and bring l evel
up
to, but not over, Ful l mark. (Caution: Do
not run engi ne w hen oil i s below the Low m ar k on t he dipstick)
• Check Cooling Air intake sc reens and cool in g f ins and clean as necessary to insure unobstructed
flow of cooling air.
• C heck Air Cleaner to m ake sure com ponents ar e t i ght and proper l y

unfiltered air.
• Replenish Fuel i n tank with clean, f r esh supply of R egul ar Grade, non-leaded or l eaded gasoline.
• Check oi l l evel in driven equi pment to make sur e adequate lubrication is availab le .
• Check safety guar ds to m ake sure all are i n pl ace and secure .

The fol lowing procedure applies t o m ost applications .
• DISENGAGE D RIVE decl utch or shift in neut r al .
• SET HAND BRAKE on uni t s so equipped.
• TIJRN
FUEL O N at fuel shut- off valve if so equip ped.
STEP 1 . Close thr ot tle to t he idle pos i t ion.
STEP 2.
On
engines with manual choke cont r ol cl ose choke valve wi t h cold engine--if res t ar t ing warm engine
l i t tle or no choki ng r equired.
STEP 3. Turn ign i t ion swi t ch on if unit so equi pped or m ove key and hold in St ar t positi on unt i l engine
st ar t s-- r eleased key wi l l aut omatical l y re t urn t o run pos i tion. W i t h push but ton s t ar t i ng, press
and hold swi teh until engi ne s tarts . (see precaut i ons under "Start ing M ot or" ) .
STEP 4. Ret urn Choke gradually t o open pos i t i on as engine warms up.
