    ADDITIONAL OPERATIONS POWER BACKUP When a spare battery pack (optional) is installed in the Base Unit, your VTech cordless telephone uses this battery to provide operational backup during a power failure. If you have a fully charged battery pack in the Base Unit charger, you will be able to place and receive calls from the Handset for up to 5 hours.
