3.4.3 - Using the Parental Controls

The Parental Controls feature prevents viewers from watching programs that are not age-
appropriate, such as programs containing violence or adult language.
1. Press the TV component button on the remote control or
select TV by using the TV/Video button on the top of the
TV.
2. Press the MENU button on the remote control and the
Main Menu will be displayed on the screen.
3. Press
on the remote control until the Parental Controls
menu is highlighted. Then press SELECT.
4. To access the Parental Control Menu, you must first enter
in the default password.
a) Press "0 0 0 0" on the remote control as the default
password.
b) Then press SELECT to confirm the selection.
If the wrong password is entered, you will see the following warning.
For more information about setting a password, see "Setting a
Password", page 28.
5. Press
button on the remote control until TV Rating is highlighted.
6. Press the SELECT button to open the TV RATINGS menu.
7. Press the ▲ and ▼ buttons on the remote control to navigate through each area. Press the
◄ and ► buttons on the remote control to select which rating you want to block (filled circle)
or unblock (empty circle). You can select from the following ratings:
TV-Y (all children)
TV-Y7 (older children)
TV-G (general audience)
TV-PG (guidance suggested)
TV-14 (strongly cautioned)
TV-MA (mature audience)
You can also customize these ratings for:
V (violence)
L (adult language)
S (sexual situations)
D (sexual dialog)
8. Press the MENU button again to back out of the menu.
9. Press
button on the remote control once again to highlight the Movie Rating menu.
10. Press the SELECT button to open the Movie Rating menu.
11. Press the ▲ and ▼ buttons on the remote control to navigate through each area. Press the
◄ and ► buttons on the remote control to select which rating
you want to block (filled circle) or unblock (empty circle). You
can select from the following ratings:
G (General audience)
PG (Parental guidance suggested)
PG-13 (Recommended for children 13 years of age and
older)
R (mature audience)
NC-17 (no one under 17 years of age)
X (no one under 17 years of age)
12. Press the Menu button repeatedly to exit the OSD.
