Practical advice in case of difficulties
Problems and possible causes
The fryer is not heating
• The removable cord is not inserted in the electrical
base.
• The appliance is not plugged in or the thermostat
control button is in the off position O/I.
• The safety cut-out is activated.
• The fryer is not positioned properly on the
electrical base.
Emits unpleasant smells
• The anti-odour filter is saturated.
• The fat/oil has deteriorated.
• The fat/oil is unsuitable.
A large quantity of steam is coming out around the lid
• The lid is not properly closed
The frying oil is overflowing
• The max (1 l) fill mark for the bowl has been
exceeded.
• The basket is too full or misshappen.
• Mixture of different oils and /or fats.
• Oil bubbling up too much.
Foods are not browning and stay soft
• They are too thick and contain too much water.
• Too much food being cooked at the same time
and the cooking oil is not at the right temperature.
• The temperature of the frying oil may not be high
enough: the thermostat is set incorrectly.
The bowl does not drain
• The oil is still too hot.
• The fryer is not properly positioned on the
container.
• The filter grid is blocked or clogged.
Oil leaks
• The bowl is leaking.
The fryer touches the oil on the OIL BOX (too much oil in the OIL BOX)
• The max (1 l) fill mark for the bowl has been
exceeded.
• Some oil was left in the OIL BOX.
Others problems
• The timer does not work (depending on model):
the battery is spent.
• The temperature light does not come on.
Any repairs must be carried out only by an Approved Service Centre using original spare parts.
Solutions
• Before plugging the fryer into the mains, insert the connector
into the back of the electrical base.
• Plug-in the appliance or place the thermostat control button
onto the temperature you want.
• Place the thermostat control button in the off position then
place it onto the temperature you require .
• Make sure there are no foreign objects between the base and
the fryer.
• Change the filter (after 80 uses).
• Renew the frying oil (after 10 to 12 uses max), more frequently
depending on the oil.
• Use a good quality blended vegetable oil (See Page17).
• Make sure that the lid is properly locked/closed.
• Check the oil level (1 l) and take out any surplus.
• Check that the basket is not too full. Change your basket.
• Empty and clean the bowl. Refill the bowl with only one type
of oil.
• Shake off loose ice and dry foods well. Lower the basket very
gently.
• Experiment by lengthening the cooking time or cut foods
thinner.
• Fry foods in small quantities (especially when frozen).
• Set the thermostat to the recommended temperature.
• Wait for the temperature to go down (approximately 2 hours).
• Position the fryer correctly.
• Empty the fryer into a container using the pouring spout and
clean the filter grid with warm water, washing-up liquid and a
non-metallic brush. Press on the red button under the fryer to
let out water and debris.
• If it is only some drops on the electrical base, go to the page
23. For a bigger leak, contact an Approved Service Centre.
• Respect the oil level (1 l). Clean the fryer before any use.
• Empty the OIL BOX before draining the oil. Clean the fryer
before any use.
