For "A" Di men sion:
1. De ter mine the dis tance from face of the tee to
the fin ished face of the wall.
2. Round to near est ½" (12,7 mm) between
1-1/2" and 45-1/2 (38,1 mm and 1 156 mm).
NOTE: De flec tor will ex tend ap prox i mately
4-1/4" (108 mm) from wall with 2" [+/- 1" (25,4
mm)] of horizontal
adjustment avail able.
Minimum wall open ing

STEP 1: Align slot in es cutch -
eon with the hor i zon tal sur -
face of de flec tor as shown.
2. Ap ply a small amount of pipe-joint
com pound or tape to the male
threads only, tak ing care not to al -
low a build-up of com pound over the
brass in let and seal. NOTE: Sprin -
klers with pro tec tive caps or bulb
shields must be con tained within
the caps or shields be fore ap ply ing
pipe-joint com pound or tape.
3. In stall the dry side wall sprin kler on the
pip ing us ing the spe cial dry sprin kler
wrench only, while tak ing care not to
dam age the sprin kler. DO NOT use
a pipe wrench on the bar rel of the
dry side wall sprin kler. A pipe wrench
may dam age the bar rel fin ish.
4. To in stall the es cutch eon for the ad -
just able stan dard style dry hor i zon tal
side wall sprin kler, re fer to Fig ure 3.
E. Af ter in stal la tion, the en tire sprin kler
sys tem must be tested. The test must
be con ducted to com ply with the in -
stal la tion stan dards.

Make sure the sprin kler has been prop -
erly tight ened. If a thread leak oc curs,
nor mally the sprin kler must be re -
moved, new pipe-joint com pound or
tape ap plied, and then re in stalled. This
is due to the fact that when the joint seal
is dam aged, the seal ing com pound or
tape is washed out of the joint.
F. Re move plas tic pro tec tive sprin kler
caps and bulb shields AF TER the
wall fin ish work is com pleted where
the sprin kler is in stalled and there
no lon ger is a po ten tial for me chan i -
cal dam age to the glass bulbs. To re -
move the bulb shields, sim ply pull the
ends of the shields apart where they are
snapped to gether. To re move caps,
turn the caps slightly and pull them off
the sprin klers. SPRIN KLER CAPS

G. Wet pipe sys tems sup ply ing dry hor i -
zon tal side wall sprin klers must be
pro vided with ad e quate heat. Refer
to ap pro pri ate in stal la tion stan dards.
7. MAIN TE NANCE
NO TICE: The owner is re spon si ble for
main tain ing the fire-protection sys tem and
de vices in proper op er at ing con di tion. For
min i mum main te nance and in spec tion re -
quire ments, re fer to the ap pro pri ate NFPA
stan dard that de scribes care and main te -
nance of sprin kler sys tems. In ad di tion,
the AHJ may have ad di tional main te -
nance, test ing, and in spec tion re quire -
ments that must be fol lowed.
A. The sprin klers must be in spected on a
reg u lar ba sis for signs of cor ro sion,
