The Vi king Model M Quick Re sponse
Ex tended Cov er age Light Haz ard Ex -
tra-Large Or i fice (QR-ECLH-ELO) Pen -
dent Sprin kler is a thermosensitive
glass-bulb spray sprin kler equipped with
an ex tra-large or i fice and a spe cial de -
flec tor. The pip-cap and seal ing as sem -
bly of the sprin kler are held in place by a
rug ged, fast-actuating, 3 mm glass bulb.
The sprin kler is listed as a quick re -
sponse sprin kler when in stalled in the
spe cific spac ing, tem per a ture rat ing,
and es cutch eon com bi na tions in di cated
in Ta ble 2 on page 71 d.
The spe cial de flec tor is de signed to
meet Light-Hazard den sity re quire -
ments for spe cif i cally listed ex tended ar -
eas of cov er age when the re quired min i -
mum wa ter sup ply is pro vided at the
sprin kler.
The ex tra-large or i fice pro duces the
flows re quired to meet Light Hazard
den sity re quire ments at lower pres sures
than stan dard or i fice or large or i fice
sprin klers re quire.
Vi king Model M QR-ECLH-ELO Pen -
dent Sprin klers are avail able with fin -
ishes and tem per a ture rat ings to meet
de sign re quire ments. The spe cial Tef -
®
lon and Poly es ter coat ings can be used
in dec o ra tive ap pli ca tions where col ors
are de sired. In ad di tion, these two fin -
ishes are cor ro sion re sis tant and pro -
vide pro tec tion against many cor ro sive
en vi ron ments.
Dur ing fire con di tions, when the tem per -
a ture around the sprin kler reaches its
op er at ing tem per a ture,
heat-sensitive liq uid in the glass bulb ex -
pands, caus ing the bulb to shat ter, re -
leas ing the pip-cap and seal ing spring
as sem bly. The wa ter flow ing through
the sprin kler or i fice strikes the sprin kler
de flec tor, form ing a uni form spray pat -
tern to ex tin guish or con trol the fire.

through the end-user that the coat ings are com pat i ble with or suit able for the pro posed
