No picture f3 If your TV does not turn on, and a red light keeps flashing, your TV may
(screen not lit), no sound need service. Call your local Sony Service Center.
f3 Make sure the power cord is plugged in.
L3 Press the POWERbutton on the front of the TV.
f3 Press the TV/VIDE0button to cycle through the connected video sources.

"Black box" on screen 13 You have selected a text option in the Setup Menu and no text is available.
(See page 89 to reset Setup selections.) To turn off this feature, set the
Caption Vision option to Off. If you were trying to select closed captioning,
select CC1 instead of TEXT1-4.
Black bands appear at the /3 Some wide-screen programs are filmed in aspect ratios that are greater
top and bottom of the screen than 16:9, such as 2.35:1. (This is especially common with theatrical
releases). Your TV will show these programs with black bands at the top
and bottom of the screen. For more details, check the documentation that

Press MUTINGso that the word Mutin9 disappears from the screen (see page
44).
Make sure the Speaker option is set to On in the Audio Menu (see page 81).
Make sure the MTSoption is set to Stereo or Mono (see page 80).
Increase the volume of the cable box using the cable box's remote control.
Then press TVFUNCTIONand adjust the TV's volume.
The TV s audio might be set to Auto SAPor Mono, when it might be better set
to Stereo. In the Audio Menu (see page 80), set the MTSsetting to Stereo. If
already set to Stereo, switch to Mono (which may reduce background noise
during weak stereo broadcasts).
Cannot raise the volume on [3 If the Speaker option is sat to Off and the Audio Out option is set to Fixed (in
external audio speakers order to output the sound to your audio system) use your audio receiver to
adjust the sound (see page 80). Or, to use the TV remote control, set the
Audio Out option to Variable.
