SCMS
Pronounced
"scums",
SCMS
(Serial
Copy Management
System)
is
a
protection
system
designed
to
stop multiple
digital
copying of copyrighted
material.
SCMS
applies
to
all
CD
players
and consumer
type
DAT,
MD,
and
DCC
recorders. Basically,
it
prevents
second-generation
digital
copies
being
made.
It
has
no
effect
when
analog connections
are
used.
When
the
DR4
receives
a
digital
signal
that
contains
SCMS,
it
will
not prevent
the
DR4
from
recording.
The
digital
signal will
be recorded without
the
SCMS.
Note:
If
you
are recording
some copyrigM
material
from a CD,
DAT,
MD, DCC,
etc.,
you
miist
have approval
before
you
use
it.
