2 Getting
Around
the
DR4
The
DR4
is
relatively
easy
to operate,
arid
anyone
that
has
used a
conventional tape recorder
will find
it
quite straightforward.

Sub
Menus
Many
of
the
DR4
keys provide
two
functions.-
A
main
function
and
a
sub-menu
function.
The
main
function of
such a
key
is
printed
above
it,
and
the
sub-menu
function
is
printed
below
it,
enclosed
in
a
light
gray box.
Some
sub-menu
keys
provide access
to
functions,
some
to
variable
parameters.
To
access
a
sub-menu
function,
first
press the
SUB-MENU
key,
then while
its
indicator
is
flashing,
press the respective
key.
Setting
Parameters
Most
parameters can
be
set
using
the
jog wheel,
shuttle control,
or
number
keypad.
However,
it
does vary
from
function
to function.
So
refer to
the operating
procedure
for
each
function.
Entering
Time Values
To
locate
to
any
point, set
the
in point,
out
point, direct locate point,
stack locate
point,
etc.,
you must
display the desired
time
on
the
display.
The
desired
time can
be
entered
as follows:
1)
Press
the
LOCATE
key.
will
appear
on
the display.
2)
Use
the
number keypad
to
enter the desired
time.
Time
values
should
be
entered
from
left
to
right.
For example,
to enter the
time 15 minutes
32
seconds
20
frames, press these
number
keys
in
the
following
order:
1,5,3,
2, 2, 0.
If
you
make
a
mistake while
entering the time, press the
RESET
key,
then reenter the
time.
3)
Press
the
STORE/ENT
key.
The
DR4
will
display the specified time.
Note
that
the
DR4
will
actually locate to the specified
time.
If
you want
to
return
to
the
previous
point,
press the
LAST
key.
Of
course,
you
can
also
use
the
rewind,
fast
forward,
play,
and
stop keys, or
jog
wheel and
shuttle
control
to
display a
time
on
the
display.
