Under normal circumstances, ÄKTA ready XL should always be shut down as descri-
bed in
Section 6.3 Controlled shutdown and removal of flow kit, on page
Shutting down ÄKTA ready XL by pressing the EMERGENCY STOP button should
only be performed if an emergency situation prevents normal shutdown.
This section describes how to perform an emergency shutdown, the result in the
event of power failure, and the procedure for restarting ÄKTA ready XL after a power
failure.
WARNING
Emergency stop. Pressing the EMERGENCY STOP will not shut
off mains power to the electrical cabinet.
WARNING
Emergency stop. Pressing the EMERGENCY STOP does not au-
tomatically depressurize the flow path.
WARNING
Power failure. During a power failure, or if the EMERGENCY
STOP button is pressed, the system may remain pressurized.
Opening a line or vessel at this point could result in the release of
potentially hazardous process or cleaning fluid, and cause bodily
harm.
When recovering from a power failure or emergency shutdown,
make sure all lines and vessels are depressurized before opening.
Press the EMERGENCY STOP button (B) if it is necessary to stop ÄKTA ready XL in
an emergency situation.
Do not shut down ÄKTA ready XL using the Power switch (A).
