10.5 Battery
WARNING
Perform battery storage after all other storage procedures.
1.
Confirm that the generator set is stopped.
2.
Disconnect the battery(ies), negative (-) lead first.
3.
Clean the battery. Refer to the battery cleaning procedure.
4.
Place the battery in a cool, dry location.
5.
Connect the battery to a float/equalize battery charger or charge it monthly with a trickle battery charger. Refer to the
battery charger manufacturer's recommendations.
Maintain a full charge to extend battery life.
Note:
If the battery is an absorbed glass mat (AGM) type, ensure that the battery charger is compatible with AGM type batteries before
charging

Relays in the battery charger cause arcs or sparks.
Locate the battery in a well‐ventilated area. Isolate the battery charger from explosive
fumes.
