PAPER MECHANISM CONTROLS
Figure 2-3 shows the paper mechanism controls , which
are further described in Table 2-1 .

MECHANISM CONTROLS
Function
The pressure plates may be opened
and closed to allow the loading of
paper.
Rotating the tractor locks downward
allows the tractor to be moved
horizontally to achieve a horizontal
paper alignment or to accommodate
various paper widths.
Moving this lever controls the platen
gap, thus allowing printing of forms of
one to six layers.
Moving this lever away from the
platen releases the paper tensioner
and increases the distance between
the print head and the platen to
facilitate paper loading , ribbon
replacement, and print head
replacement.
While applying a downward pressure,
this knob may be rotated and the
paper manually moved to achieve
vertical paper registration .

FORMS ALIGNMENT SCALE
Figure 2-4 shows the forms alignment scale and paper
out sensor. Table 2-2 provides a description of the
scale's use.

Function
Allows the operator to visually align
paper both vertically and horizontally
to get proper print-to-form registra
tion .
The two horizontal lines represent
the line spacing when the printer is
printing at six lines per inch . The
bottom horizontal line indicates the
vertical position of the top of the
characters of the print row .
The vertical lines are 1 /10- inch apart
and indicate the horizontal margin .
Placing the edge of the paper directly
over the center heavy line will
provide a 1 /2-inch margin .
Detects the end of the last form .
Prevents printer operation when the
paper supply is exhausted.
Senses when the platen gap lever is
not closed . The STATUS indicator
displays "04".
