The tip size and angle detertnrriea the pattc;rn <.,*Jidth arld
flow rate. Don't try to get more caverage by increasing
the pressure --- use a larqer tip. Separate literature,
306-997, will tell you the right way to dpplv paint by
"airless" spraying.
The standard hose and spray tip selected wiil handle
most materials quite well. However, yocl niay want to
use some of the high viscosity materials and J large
orifice spray tip, or longer hoses If so, yoi~ nltist use
hoses with an inside diameter large enough :r~ avoid too
much loss of atomizing pressure at the spray rip Your

The wet-cup must always contalrl TSL. To
prevent losing the TSL during transport,
stuff a rag or some cotion into ttle 'wet-cup.

Cleaning A Clogged Tip
If the spray tip clogs while spraying. reieac;t: spr+ gr11-I
trigger, engage trigger safety, ancd turil Reverse-A
Clean handle 180". Disengage safety and trigger gurl.
Fluid pressure should force obstruction !rom spray tip.
Release trigger, engage trigger safety. re!urrl handle to
original position and resume spraying
If fluid pressure fails to clear tip, set: Kever:.c~~A Clean

Shutdown and Care of Your Unit
If you are going to stop spraying for a short time (lunch,
breaks, etc.), iiirri unit off, relieve pressure by opening
dr;tiil
valve, engage trigye, r safety, I&..!: the spray nozzle

Whenever possible, park the a:;it In the shade or a
relatively cool area to reduce the possibility of over-
heating.
When through spraying always stop pump at the
bottom ot its stroke to prevent materiai from drying on
displacemen: rud and possibly darnaging the throat
packinijs Check packing-nut wet-cup tightness
periodically and tighten with l/4 in. diameter rod if
necessary. See Fig 3.
Clear1 spray housing, tip, suction strainer and outlet
manifola 'ilter after:, and when storing unit. Flush all
paint \>:i:t of unil as explained above, on the last work
day of each sweek. If you are spraying paint that dries
mori: ~!u&iy !II~II overnrght, flush daily at shutdown.
If

ri+e vv:jter to flush, pump it out and fill the pump
witt, mInera/ spirits solvent. If water is left in the pump,
corrosion will shof ten the life of the pump.
Check hydraulic oil sump occasionally. Add as needed.
Change hydraulic fluid after every 2000 hours of opera-
tion or every 12 months, whichever comes first. Also
clean hydraulic pump intake filter and replace the
disposable filter rn the return line. Unplug unit, relieve
pressure. remove shield and follow instructions given
under, "ReplacIng the Electric Motor" to get at filters,
remove old fluid and clean sump. Pour one gallon of
new approved hydraulic fluid into sump through strainer
and turn the unit on and off a few times to remove air
frorn hydraulic system.
