VARIOUS OPERATIONS
To search for the peak volume level within a
disc (peak search)
With this function, the peak level of CD can easily be searched
for. This is convenient for adjusting the proper recording level.
To search for the peak level of the entire disc:
unne stop mode, press PEAK SEARCH.
The player scans the entire disc and searches for the peak level.
It takes about 1 minute with a 60-minute CD. While searching,
the PEAK indicator blinks on the display.

To cancel the peak search function, press @.
To search for the peak level of the programmed tracks:
Program the desired tracks beforehand and press PEAK SEARCH.
The player scans all of the programmed tracks and searches for the
peak level between them.
To adjust the recording level
1. When the player detects the peak level, a 6-second (approximate)
portion of the disc including the peak level is played repeatedly.
2. Adjust the recording level on the tape deck.
3. Set the tape deck to recording mode and start CD play by
pressing .

Program playback - To program tracks in
desired order
Programming is possible during stop or playback mode.
Only during stop mode, the dialog display appears in each step to
facilitate programming.
1 Press PROGRAM.
e@ "TRACK?" appears on the display.
2 Enter the desired track numbers in a desired order
with the digit button.

Up to 24 tracks (steps) can be programmed.
Press >.
The tracks are played in the programmed
order.
When all
programmed tracks have been played, the player enters stop
mode.

Each time a track is programmed,
the display will show the
programmed number.

lf the disc is in the player, the program contents will not be
erased even if the power Is turned off.
NOTES:

The player sometimes detects the different peak level even when
the peak search function is carried out on one disc.
e
With some discs, the player cannot detect the proper peak level.
This is not a malfunction.

When the peak level exists on the beginning or end of the track,
the section which contains the peak level is played repeatedly for
about 3 seconds.
Adjusting the sound volume (PD-201 only)

Press OUTPUT LEVEL "—" or "+" to adjust the output level.
e
The output level can be sdiusied between 0 dB and ~-25 dB in
steps of 1 dB.

The ATT display shows the selected level.
e@ The output level at the OUTPUT jacks and PHONES jack wiil be
adjusted simultaneously.
e
lf the disc is in the player, the setting of the OUTPUT LEVEL
button is not erased even when
the power its turned off.
However, if the power is turned off with an audio timer or by
unplugging the power cord, the setting of the OUTPUT LEVEL
button will be erased.

Programming while listening to playback
During normal playback or program playback, you can program the
desired tracks.
During
normal
playback
or Hi-Lite scan
playback
(Direct
program):
The track being played can be programmed.
1. During playback, press PROGRAM to enter the program mode.
2. Whenever a track to be programmed is played, press PROGRAM.
You can repeat step 2 until up to 24 steps are programmed.
3. After programming, press ®. The current playback is cleared and
the tracks are played in the programmed order.
During program playback: '
Enter the desired tracks without pressing PROGRAM.
The program
contents are added to the program being played.
Notes on time display
e If the total playing time or total remaining time exceeds 100
minutes, the corresponding time will not be displayed.
e@ If track No. 30 or above is programmed, total remaining time or
total playing time will not be displayed.
