TO PLAY ONLY DESIRED TRACKS/DISCS
1. During stop mode, press the PROGRAM button.
The PROGRAM indicator lights and "DISC?* appears on the
display.
2. Press the disc number button which contains the
tracks to be programmed.
"AL" {all tracks) appears and then the display shows
"TRACK?", To program entire discs, enter the desired disc
numbers with the disc number buttons and go to step 4.
3. Enter the track No. to be programmed with the digit
buttons.
Alternately, if the player is stopped, you may use the ke¢
#4 or >> PP button to select tracks. After selecting the
track No., be sure to press the PROGRAM button.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 to program other tracks.
5. Press the > button.
The tracks are played in the programmed order. When all
programmed tracks have been played, the player enters
stop mode.

NOTE:
When a track is selected with the Wt. << or >> PP button in
step 3, the displayed track No. is automatically programmed if
the <4 Of mR PP button is not pressed within 2
seconds, Therefore, be sure to press the 44 <4 or PP Pri
button sequentially until the desired track No. appears on the
display.
To stop Program playback, Press the m@ button.
To exit program mode:
During program playback, select a disc No. with the disc
number button and then press the » button. The player enters
normal playback mode and playback starts from the beginning
of the selected disc.
@ Programs containing up to 32 steps can be created.
e@ To go to the previous or next step in a program, press the
Med <4 OF PR me! button.
e To enter track No. 11 or above with the digit buttons, see
"Track Search" on page 11.
e@ if the magazine is in the player, the program contents will
not be erased even if the power is turned off.
NOTE:
During Delete programming or Time fade editing the PRO-
GRAM button cannot be operated.
Direct Program:
During normal playback or Magazine Hi-Lite Scan playback,
the track being played can be programmed.
1. Press the PROGRAM button to enter the program
mode.
2. To search for a desired track during normal play-
back, it is possible to skip to succeeding tracks by
pressing the < << or >> »p button.
Also, Magazine Hi-Lite Scan function can be used to move
from track to track through the disc.
3. Hf you wish to program the track currently playing,
press the PROGRAM button while the track is
playing.
e Direct programming is not possible during program
playback.

To check the program contents
(Except for PD-M503):
During program mode, set the player to stop mode and press
the CHECK button on the remote contro! unit. The program
contents will be displayed in the programmed order.
e After confirming the last program step, the display will
show "0-00",
| PROGRAMMING A PAUSE
Inserting a pause in your program can be very useful when
carrying out recording, Press the H button instead of entering a
track number. "PA" appears on the display panel.
e@ For example, when recording on both sides of a cassette
tape, if you program a pause after the last track to be
recorded on the first side, program playback will pause at
that point to allow you to switch tape sides. To resume
program playback after the player enters pause mode,
press the it button.
NOTE:
@ A pause can be programmed only when the program
procedure is performed under stop mode.
® A pause cannot be programmed at the beginning of a
program (P-01}, nor can two pauses be programmed one
after the other.
e@ A pause inserted in a program is counted as one step.
e@ if a pause is programmed as the last step of a program, the
player will not enter the pause mode.
To erase a program (Except for PD-M503):
During program mode, press the CLEAR button on the remote
control unit.
The last program step is erased and the contents of the pre-
vious program step are displayed.
NOTE:
Contents of a program can be erased during playback as well.
However, tracks preceding the currently playing track cannot
be erased in this way.
To clear all of the program contents:
® During stop mode, press the m@ button.
When the magazine is ejected, the program contents will be
cleared.
To modify the program contents
(Except for PD-M503):
1. During program mode, set the player to stop mode
and press the CHECK button on the remote control
unit so that the program step to be corrected
appears on the display.
Use the disc number buttons to select the new disc
number; then use the digit buttons to select the new
track. (The << << or >> p> button may be used to
select the track numbers. In this case, press the
PROGRAM button after selecting the track.}
e Repeat steps 1 and 2 to change other tracks as desired.
e ifthe we << ore» pei button is not pressed within 2
seconds when correcting the track No., the displayed
track No. is automatically memorized.
