repairs with the engine running. ST0P engine. ST0P blade.
Engage parking brake. Remove key. Remove spark plug
wire f rom spark plug and secure away f rom plug. Engine
and components
are H0T. Avoid serious burns, allow all
parls to cool before working on machine.
Fuel Filler Cap
and vent must be closed securely
to prevent fuel spillage.
Mower Deck Adjustment
(Side-To-Side
Levelness)
Belore making deck leveling adlustments,
check the tire
pressure. Front tires 12 PSl, rear tires 12 PSl. lf tires are
properly inflated and mowing is still uneven, adjust side-to-
side deck levelness.
1. Place the Rider on a smooth level surface.
2. Turn the engine off and remove the key. Remove the
spark plug wire Jrom the spark plug and secure the wire
away f rom the plug.

the rear center of the deck.
4. Remove the rear hanger chains (A, Figure 35) and allow
rear center of the deck to rest on the angle iron.
5. Measure the distance from the blade tips to the floor. lf
the measurement
is within 1/8" from side-to-side,
the
deck attitude is satisfactory.
lf difference
f rom side-to-
side is greater than 1/8", continue with adjustment.
6. Loosen the hardware (A, Figure 34) that retains the left
side of the blade pedal (B).
7 . M o v e t h e l i f t a r m ( C ) u p o r d o w n a s r e q u i r e d u n t i l t h e
blade tips are within 1lB" of each other.
B. Tighten the hardware loosened in Step 6. Recheck both
sides of the deck for correct levelness.
9. Readjust the rear hanger chain pivots (8, Figure 35) to
align with the holes in the support brackets (D).

ceed to check front to rear levelness.

Levelness)
28" and 33" Decks
With the Rear Engine Rider on a smooth, level surface,
rotate the blade until the blade tips are at the front and rear
of the deck. Measure
the distance
from the blade tips to the
floor (Figure 35). The distance
should be the same, or the
rear 1lB" to 114" lower than the front. lf the rear blade tip is
higher than the front, or is more Ihan 114" lower than the
front, proceed with adjustment.
30" Decks
With the Rear Engine Rider on a smooth, level surface,
rotate the blade until the blade tips are at the front and rear
of the deck. Measure
the distance
from the blade tips to the
floor (Figure 35). The distance
should be the same, or the
rear 1lB" Io 114" higherthan
the front. lf the rear blade tip is
lower than the front, or is more than 114" higher than the
front, proceed
with adjustment.
Adjustment
1 . R e m o v e

2. Turn each hanger pivot (B) the same number of rota-
tions on the eye-bolt
to raise or lower the rear of the
0ecK.
3. Reinstall
the rear hanger chains and measure
the blade
t r p s a g a i n .
4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 until proper levelness
is
o btai ned.
