WARNING
D0 NOT attempt any adjustments,
maintenance,
servtce or
repairs with the engine running. ST0P engine. ST0p blade.
Engage parking brake. Remove key. Remove spark plug
wire from spark plug and secure away from plug. Engine
and components
are H0T. Avoid serious burns, allow all
pafts to cool before working on machine.
Fuel Filler Cap
and vent must be closed securely
to prevent fuel spillage.

Rear Axle Bearing - Lubrication
'1.
The grease fitting (A, Figure 27)on the teft rear axle
bearing requires three shots of general purpose grease
from grease gun.
2. fhe right rear axle bearing is lubricated by the
differentral
lubricant and requires n0 grease.
2. To check lubricant,
remove the fill/level
plug and visually
inspect for lubricant
on the internal parts of the
differential.
lf no lubricant
is visible on the internal parts
of the differential,
add transmission
grease as needed.
IMP0RTANT:
Overfilling
of the differential
with lubricant
will
cause lubricant
to leak onto drive components
of the Rear
E n g i n e R i d e r .

3. Check the fill/level
plug (A, Figure 29) on the chain case
(B)for damage.
lf signs of wear or cracks are visible,
replace with a new plug.
4. To check lubricant
in the chain case, remove the fill/level
plug and look for lubricant
on the internal components
of the chain case. lf no lubricant
is visible. add
SNAPPER
transmission
0rease as needed.

Differential

1 . S t a n d t h e r e a r e n g i n e r i d e r o n i t s r e a r b u m p e r a n d
check the fill/level plug (A, Figure 28) on the differential
(B) for cracks and wear. Reptace
the fill/levet
plug if
signs of wear are visible.
IMP0RTANT:
lf the Rear Engine Rider wiil be on its rear
bumper for longer than two hours, remove the battery. Refer
to the section entitled "BATTERY
REMOVAL".
