Before positioning, set the voltage.
Use a flat-head screwdriver to turn the voltage selector to the ap-
propriate position for your area,
if the power supply in your area is 115 V or 120 V, please set the
voltage selector as follows:
@For 115 V: setto 110 V
*For 120 V: set to 127 V

Note that the unit will be seriously damaged If this setting Is
not made correctly.
Refer to pages 5 to 15 of the illustrated booklet to set-
up the unit and test by playing a disc.

Do not put the DVD/Video CD/CD changer on the top of the tuner/ampiifier.
Heat can damage your discs,
Use only the supplied speakers.
Using other speakers can damage the unit and sound quality will be nega-
tively affected.
Notes on speaker use
m You can damage your speakers and shorten thelr useful lite if you play
sound at high levels over extended periods.
@ Reduce the volume in the following cases to avoid damage.
When playing distorted sound.
When the speakers are receiving howling from a microphone (for are-
as except the United Kingdom, Continental Europe and Russia) or
tecord player, noise from FM broadcasts, or continuous signals from
an oscillator, tost disc, or electronic instrument.
When adjusting the sound quality.
'When turning the unit on or off.
It irregular colouring occurs on your television
These speakers are designed to be used close to a television, but the
picture may be affected with some televisions and set-up combinations.
(f this occurs, turn the television off for about 30 minutes.
The television's demagnetizing function should correct the problem.
If it persists, move the speakers further away from the television.
Front speakers
Left and right front speakers are exactly same.
Surround speakers
Place either side of the listening position, or slightly to the rear, about
1 meter higher than ear level with the Technics logo facing toward the lis-
tening position.
The effect varies with the type of music and the music source.
ff you are unable to position the surround speakers as recommended, you
can put them near the front speakers and still achieve a surround-like effact
(= page 18, VIRTUAL REAR SURROUND).

The wail or pillar on which the speakers are to be attached should be capa-
ble of supporting 5 kg per screw.

Speaker leads
Front speaker
LF and HF stand for low frequency and high frequency.
Connect the left (L) side In the same way,
Never short-circuit positive (+) and negative (—) speaker wires.
®Be sure to connect only positive (red or grey) wires to positive (+) termi-
nals and negative (black or blue) wires to negative (—-) terminals.
Incorrect connection can damage the speakers.
