Y Significant DC voltage can remain
on capacitor after unit is Off. Always
check capacitor as shown to be
sure it has discharged before work-
ing on unit.
Y Turn Off welding power
source, disconnect input
power, and check voltage on
input capacitor according to
Section
5-3
proceeding.
Have only qualified persons carry
out this procedure.
Remove wrapper.
1
Input Terminal Block
2
Input Conductors
3
Grounding Conductor
Disconnect input conductors and
grounding conductor from input ter-
minal block.
4
Strain Relief Connector
Loosen strain relief connector and
remove existing power cord.
Y Be sure conductor rating of
new cord complies with na-
tional, state, and local elec-
trical codes.
Strip 3/8 in (10 mm) insulation off all
conductors.
Insert conductors through strain
relief.
5
Line Terminals
6
Ground Terminal
Connect grounding conductor to
ground terminal first.
Connect input conductors to line
terminals. Terminals are identified
L1, L2, or L3 on terminal block.
Reinstall wrapper.

Input Capacitor C1
2
Voltmeter
Check input capacitor as shown.
Measure dc voltage across positive
(+) and negative (–) terminals until
voltage drops to near 0 (zero) volts.
