Sonos Loudspeaker Setup Guide
Introduction
Sonos Loudspeakers are designed and manufactured using proprietary technology that enables
them to deliver natural and accurate music reproduction. Please take a few minutes to read the
instructions contained in this setup guide to make certain your speakers are properly placed and
functioning correctly.
Note: The tweeter and woofer membranes are sensitive materials. Direct contact
with them should be avoided.

Speaker Placement

For best stereo imaging, the left and right speakers should be the same distance from their
respective side walls. If the distance from one speaker to the listener is noticeably different from
the other, it can affect the soundstage or stereo imaging. Therefore, it is best for the speakers to
be placed at an equal distance from the listener.
A general guideline for speaker placement is for the distance between speaker and listener to be
approximately 1½ times the distance between the speakers. For example, if the speakers are
placed 6 feet (1.8m) apart (the minimum recommended separation), the best listening position
would be 9 feet (2.4m) away.
Note: Your Sonos loudspeakers are magnetically shielded to allow them to be
placed near a television or computer monitor. If you notice any discoloration or
distortion of the television or monitor's display, move the speakers away from the
device.
