Electronic Devices
Your cellular telephone is a radio transmitter and receiver. When
the power is ON, it receives and sends out radio frequency (RF)
energy. Most modern electronic equipment, such as equipment in
hospitals and cars,is shielded from RF signals. However, RF energy
may affect some inadequately shielded electronic equipment.
Turn OFF your phone in health care facilities and request
permission before using the phone near medical equipment.
Consult the manufacturer of any personal medical devices (such as
pacemakers and hearing aids) to determine if they are shielded
adequately from external RF signals.
Note if there are any regulations posted in the areas regarding the
operation of cellular/PCS phones and learn where you may use
them safely within the facility.
Aircraft
Turn OFF your phone before boarding any aircraft. The Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) requires that you have prior
permission from a crew member to use your phone while the
plane is on the ground.FCC regulations prohibit using your phone
while the plane is on the air. Do not use your phone while in the
air at any time.
Blasting Areas
Construction crews often use remote-control RF devices to set off
explosives. To avoid interfering with blasting operations, turn your
phone OFF when in a blasting area or in other areas with signs
posted:"turn off two-way radio."
