    OIL AND FUEL INFORMATION RECOMMENDED FUEL TYPE WARNING: OVERFILLING OIL CRANKCASE MAY CAUSE SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY. Check and maintain the proper oil Old fuel is the primary reason for improper unit performance. Be sure to use level in the crank case; it is important and cannot be fresh, clean, unleaded gasoline.

    STARTING/STOPPING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING: Choke Lever Operate this unit only in a well- ventilated outdoor area. Carbon monoxide exhaust fumes can be lethal in a confined area. WARNING: Avoid accidental starting. Make sure you are in the starting position when pulling the starter rope (Fig. 16). To avoid serious injury, the operator and unit must be in a stable position while starting.

    MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE 30° WARNING: To prevent serious injury, never perform maintenance or repairs with unit running. Always service and repair a cool unit. Disconnect the spark plug wire to ensure that the unit cannot start. See Replacing the Spark Plug. Fill Level Perform these required maintenance procedures at the frequency stated in the table.
  • Page 11 MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS Apply enough clean SAE 30 motor oil to lightly coat the filter (Fig. 26). ROCKER ARM CLEARANCE Squeeze the filter to spread and remove excess oil (Fig. 27). This requires disassembly of the engine. If you feel unsure or unqualified to perform this, take the unit to a Sears or other qualified service dealer.
