Thank you for choosing the SWR® amplite™ power amplifier!
The amplite is a result of our ongoing efforts to improve the lives
of bassists everywhere, and is part of a completely new generation of
innovative, lightweight bass amplification products.
Thanks to the laws of physics, bass instruments in general require
substantially more power for accurate amplification than their high
frequency counterparts and, until recently, have required extremely
heavy transformers and bulky power supplies to produce this needed
power. The amplite was made possible by recent advances in
technology that have finally made powerful, lightweight amplifiers and
speaker enclosures a reality. Further, the amplite is the direct result
of exhaustive research and development efforts and countless hours of
A. INPUT*—You can use this input or the rear panel Input
{I} to connect to your preamp's output ("PRE OUT" on the
SWR headlite). If you use the front panel Input, the rear
panel Input is automatically disabled.
NOTE: Using the PRE OUT jack on the headlite will
enable you to control the volume of as many amplite
power amplifiers as you have connected by using the
master volume on the headlite amplifier.
B. VOLUME—Controls the ouptut level of the amplite
power amplifier.
C. POWER INDICATOR—The SWR logo illuminates when
the unit is ON.

* NOTE: The
1/4" jacks {A, H, and I} are balanced "TRS" (Tip/Ring/Sleeve) outputs:
While standard shielded "TS" (Tip/Sleeve) "mono" guitar cables can certainly be used, the use of "stereo" TRS cables may improve the
signal-to-noise ratio and/or reduce hum, especially when longer connections are required.

real-world playing applications that, together, ensured that the SWR
standards of quality, excellence and reliability were successfully met.
The SWR amplite is nothing short of revolutionary, and provides
400* watts of power in a 3-pound (1.36 kg) package that can be easily
"daisy-chained" for multiple amp rigs. Ideal as a partner for our match-
ing headlite™ bass head, the amplite can be carried in an
accessory bag or rack-mounted with the optional rack-mount kit (007-
7798-000). Two amplites will occupy a single rack space and offer
800** watts of power—at a total of 6 pounds (2.72 kg)!
We're confident that you will enjoy your new amplite for many
years to come, and many thanks for "Stepping up" to SWR.

D. POWER AMP LEVEL METER—These four LEDs indicate
the power amp signal level. The 0dB LED indicates that
the amplifier is near maximum output power. The +3dB
LED indicates that the amplifier is exceeding designed
output levels and that the Volume {B} level should be
reduced to prevent the amplifier from overheating and
shutting down.
WARNING: Due to the compact design of your amplite
power amplifier it is very sensitive to heat and adequate
ventilation must be maintained. If the amplifier overheats
it will shut down until it cools off, generally for a very
short period of time.
