Operating system installation

When starting up a PRIMERGY CX270 S1 server node for the first time, there
are several installation options, depending on the system configuration:
– Local USB installation
Instead of network booting, you can also boot and install your PRIMERGY
CX270 S1 server node from local USB media.
Ê Connect a USB storage medium (hard disk drive, optical drive or flash
media) containing a bootable image to your server.
Ê Connect a USB mouse / keyboard and VGA display to your server.
Ê Switch on the display.
Ê Make sure that none of the servers from your network has been
dedicated to be a PXE server.
Ê Press the On/Off button (item 2 in figure
Your PRIMERGY CX270 S1 server node will boot from the local disk
image.
Ê Follow the on-screen instructions.
– iSCSI boot
iSCSI (Internet SCSI) is a protocol for linking servers and data storage
facilities, similar to the Fibre Channel Protocol (FCP). iSCSI means "SCSI
over Internet Protocol". iSCSI boot allows a server to be booted remotely
from a drive in an iSCSI-based Storage Area Network (SAN).
