A PRIORITY (F1.8 – F8.0):
After selecting "A PRIORITY" (Aperture Priority)
in step 3, rotate the manual focus dial to select
the desired value, and press SET. You can set
the aperture value (F-number) manually. The
larger the aperture value (lower F-number), the
more blurred the background will become. The
smaller the aperture value (higher F-number),
the clearer the focus will be both near and far
object.
You can select the F-number from F1.8*/F1.9**/
F2.0/F2.8/F4.0/F5.6/F8.0*.

● If it is too bright, set to the larger F-number. If it is
too dark, set to the smaller.
S PRIORITY (1/50 – 1/4000):
After selecting "S PRIORITY" (Shutter Priority)
in step 3, rotate the manual focus dial to select
the desired value, and press SET. You can set
the shutter speed manually.
1/50: The shutter speed is fixed at 1/50 second.
Black bands that usually appear when shooting
a TV screen become narrower.
1/120: The shutter speed is fixed at 1/120
second. The flickering that occurs when
shooting under a fluorescent light or mercury-
vapor lamp is reduced.
1/250, 1/500, 1/1000*, 1/2000*, 1/4000*: Fast
shutter speed allows fast-moving subject to be
captured one frame at a time vividly. Use these
settings when an automatic adjustment does not
work well by
SPORTS mode
* Available only when the VIDEO/MEMORY switch
is set to "VIDEO".
To turn off the program AE
Select "OFF" in step 3. The program AE
indicator disappears.
NOTES:
● Some modes of program AE cannot be used
during Night-Scope.
● When a subject is too bright or reflective, a vertical
streak may appear (smear phenomenon). Smear
phenomenon tends to occur when "SPORTS" is
selected.
● Some modes of program AE cannot be used with
certain wipe/fader effects (
the selected indicator blinks or goes out.

Special Effects

You can add special effects to your recording
images.

Set the power switch to "M".

Set "r" to the desired mode. (
● The selected special effect indicator appears.
CLASSIC FILM*: Gives recorded scenes a
strobe effect.
MONOTONE: Like classic black and white
films, your footage is shot in B/W. Used together
with the cinema mode (
MODE"), it enhances the "classic film" effect.
SEPIA: Recorded scenes have a brownish
tint like old photos. Combine this with the cinema
mode (
pg. 35, "WIDE MODE") for a classic
look.
STROBE*: Your recording looks like a
series of consecutive snapshots.
* Available only when the VIDEO/MEMORY switch
is set to "VIDEO".
To turn off the special effect
Select "OFF" in step 2. The special effect
indicator disappears.
