Symptom
Smart zoom does not

Cause
• [Digital Zoom] is set to [Precision]or [Off] in the
SET UP settings.

• You are shooting in Multi Burst mode.
• This function cannot be used during shooting
movies.
• You are shooting a subject with a light source
behind the subject.
• The brightness of the LCD screen is too low.
• You are shooting a spotlighted subject in a dark
location such as on a stage.
• The brightness of the LCD screen is too bright.
• [PFX] (P. Effect) is set to [B&W].
• The smear phenomenon is occurring.
• The camera is functioning to increase the
visibility of the LCD screen by temporarily
brightening the image under conditions of low
illumination.
Solution
p Set [Digital Zoom] to [Smart] (pages 27, 46 and 114).
p Set
image size
to other settings except [5M] and [3:2]
(pages 21 and 27).
p The smart zoom cannot be used in Multi Burst mode
(pages 27, 60).
p Select the metering mode (page 56).
p Adjust the exposure (pages 53, 54 and 110).
p Adjust the brightness of the LCD backlight (page 115).
p Adjust the exposure (pages 53, 54 and 110).
p Adjust the brightness of the LCD backlight (page 115).
p Set it to the other modes than [B&W] (page 60).
p This phenomenon is not a malfunction.
p There is no effect on the recorded image.
