HOW TO REPLACE THE MOTION DRIVE BELT

REMOVAL
1.
Remove the mower housing. See the instructions on "How To
Remove The Mower Housing".
2.
Completely push the pedal forward and engage the parking
brake.
3.
Remove the V–idler pulley and spacer.

4.
Loosen belt guide "A" at the middle idler pulley and belt
guide "B" at the rear idler pulley.
5.
Remove the motion drive belt from the drive pulley fan. Slip
the motion drive belt over each fan blade as you rotate the fan.
6.
Remove the motion drive belt from the drive pulley.
7.
To remove the motion drive belt from the clutch, pull the front
end of the belt under the clutch and then back between the
clutch and the steering plate (Figure 27).

8.
Remove the access panel (Figure 28).
9.
Remove the two screws that attach the steering shaft
assembly (Figure 28). Raise the steering wheel and steering
shaft assembly. Pull the motion drive belt under the steering
shaft assembly.
10. Remove the motion drive belt. A correct replacement part or
assistance is available from an Authorized Service Center in
your area.

INSTALLATION
1.
Slide the motion drive belt between the clutch and the belt
guides (Figure 27). Install the motion drive belt on the top
pulley of the clutch. Make sure the "V" side of the belt is against
the pulley.
2.
Push the motion drive belt through the opening between the
steering plate and the engine plate.
3.
Install the motion drive belt around the drive pulley fan and
onto the drive pulley. Make sure the motion drive belt is
above the drive pulley belt guide.
4.
Put the motion drive belt around the V–idler pulley. Install the
motion drive belt, V–idler pulley and spacer. Make sure the

nut is tight.
5.
Put the motion drive belt on the rear idler pulley and on the
middle idler pulley. Make sure the back of the belt is against
each ider pulley.
6.
Tighten belt guide "A" and belt guide "B".
7.
Check the routing of the motion drive belt (Figure 29). Make
sure the motion drive belt is installed correctly on the idler
pulleys and inside all belt guides.
8.
Attach the steering shaft assembly to the steering plate with
two screws (Figure 28).
9.
Attach the access panel (Figure 28).
10. Before you use the unit, check the adjustment of the clutch. See
the instructions "How To Check And Adjust The Clutch".
11. Install the mower housing. See the instructions "How To Install
The Mower Housing".
