Starting VISTA
The VISTA base unit is plugged into the UPS in the computer cabinet.
1. If the power switch on the VISTA base unit is OFF, turn it to ON. Turn on
the monitor if it is not already on.
2. If the monitor displays a message that states the shutdown is ready to
bac
proceed or reset, press
base unit.
3. If the password prompt appears on the monitor, enter your password and
e
press
on the keyboard. After a series of startup screens, the monitor
displays the OS/2 desktop.
Note
The OS/2 desktop contains several icons. An icon is a
graphical representative of an object consisting of an image,
image background and a name.
Double-click on the VISTA2.4 icon to start VISTA. The VISTA Operator
Console, Job Queue, and Status Monitor windows display.

About the Job Queue Window
When VISTA is started the Job Queue window will open automatically. The
Job Queue window allows you to submit, process, and monitor the jobs in the
queue. The window consists of a menu bar, a Job Status area, and several Job
Control buttons.

Control Menu
The Control drop-down menu allows you to
control the processing of selected jobs. In
addition, many of the Control functions appear
as buttons at the bottom of the window.
For procedures on using the Control menu
functions, refer to the section, "Job Control
Functions," later in this chapter.
