Drive Foldback Information
The compressor foldback varies based on the envelope control mode selected (register 231). There are two
forms of envelop control, basic envelope protection and active envelope protection. Basic envelope
protection uses a torque limit curve, that is related to speed to protect the compressor. Active envelope
protection uses the systems condensing and evaporating temperatures, provided via Modbus, to verify the
compressor is operating inside the envelope. Table 3 shows all the envelope control modes available in the
EVA3 drives.
The condensing fan is limited by power, i.e. when a 1/3Hp fan is selected, the drive will allow speeds up to
the maximum speed (register 1003) or 1/3Hp, whichever is reached first.
