Pre-Operation Inspection

1. Clean any oil, grease or dirt from the tool handle
and head. This aids inspection and helps prevent
the handle from slipping from your grip. Clean and
maintain per maintenance instructions.
2. Inspect for wear and damage before use. Do not
use if any parts are worn, corroded, rusted, or
cracked.
3. Check for proper assembly and completeness, do
not use if there are missing or misaligned parts.
4. Check for the presence and condition of decals.
5. Inspect any other equipment according to their
instruction manuals.
If any issues are found, do not use this tool until
corrected.

Tool Operation

The Greenlee Site-Rite
®
Hand Benders can be used either handle up or down to complete bends. Line up bends in the
same plane for best results. After bending, the conduit holder can be used to stabilize the conduit for cutting. To use
pass an end of the conduit through the conduit holder and lay the bender on the ground.
Each single shoe hand bender is designed to bend one size of conduit and have angle marks on both sides of the
shoe. The dual shoe hand benders are designed to bend two different sizes conduit and each side has angle marks
specificly for the marked size of conduit. Bend conduit one at a time using the markings for the appropriate bending
groove. Do not attempt to bend two conduits at the same time. Resulting bend angles will not be the same.
Handle Up (Fig. 1)
Bending Handle Up is more effective for larger diameter conduit (1"-1½"). Using the foot lever produces more force to
bend the conduit. When bending, keep one foot on the ground at all times to reduce the risk of falling and injury.

Work Area & Tool Set-Up
1. Check work area for:
• Adequate lighting
• A clear, level, stable and dry place for all equip-
ment and space for the operator to work comfort-
ably and according to tool operating instructions to
reduce the risk of injury.
2. Inspect the work to be done. Determine the correct
equipment for the job. Using the wrong size bender
will lead to poor quality bends.
3. Make sure the work site is easily recognizable to
outside observers to prevent people from coming
into the area while the tool is being used. Barriers or
cones around work site are some of the ways to do
this.
4. Determine the type of bends needed, then measure
and mark the conduit at the appropriate places (see
Marking Basics).
1. Place the bender head on the ground with the
handle straight up and centered with the operator's
body. The dual shoe bender is designed to stand on
its own when placed handle up.
2. Insert the conduit into the bend hook.
3. Align the arrow with the appropriate bending mark.
4. Hold the handle and assume a stable stance.
5. Press down hard on the foot pedal. Maintain even
foot pressure throughout the bend. Guide the
handle to keep the bend shoe flat and following the
45°
line of the conduit.
6. When bending look straight down and stop bending
when the Site-Rite
Site-Rite
slightly to compensate for springback.
For the Dual Shoe Bender, use the Site-Rite
and angle marks located on the side marked for the
conduit diameter being bent.
7. Inspect finished bend.
