    NOTE: HP continually improves and changes product parts. For complete and current information about supported parts for your computer, go to http://partsurfer.hp.com, select your country or region, and then follow the on-screen instructions. Make special note of each screw size and location during removal and replacement.
  • Page 31 Disconnect the battery cable from the system board (see Battery on page 28). Remove the display panel: Open the computer to 90° (1). Place suction cups in the middle on both sides of the top of the display (2). NOTE: Be sure not to place the suction cups on the camera module.

    Pull the cable out of the connector (2). When installing a new display panel, be sure to install the tape in the locations on the display rear cover that are shown in the following illustration. To install the display panel, reverse the removal procedures. Bottom cover To remove the bottom cover, use this procedure and illustration.

    Remove the four screw covers (1) and the four Phillips M2.5 × 7.0 screws (2) from the bottom cover. Starting near the hinges, use a tool to release the bottom cover (1). To reduce potential safety issues, use only the user-replaceable battery provided with the computer, a replacement battery provided by HP, or a compatible battery purchased from HP. IMPORTANT: Removing a battery that is the sole power source for the computer can cause loss of information.

    When installing a new battery, be sure to install metal plates at the locations as shown in the following illustration. Be sure to install the metal plates on the same side as the battery label. To replace the battery, reverse the removal procedures. WLAN module To remove the WLAN module, use this procedure and illustration.

    If the WLAN antenna is not connected to the terminal on the WLAN module, you must install a protective sleeve on the antenna connector, as shown in the following illustration. To install the WLAN module, reverse this procedure. Solid-state drive To remove the solid-state drive, use this procedure and illustration.

    Before installing a solid-state drive, be sure that a thermal pad is installed on the system board under the drive as shown in the following illustration. When replacing the cover, be sure to insert the edges of the cover into the six clips positioned around the drive. To install the solid-state drive, reverse the removal procedures.

    Lift the heat sink off the system board (2). Be sure to lift the heat sink evenly up off the system board. Putting too much pressure on one side can cause the heat sink to bend. Thoroughly clean the thermal material from the surfaces of the heat sink and the system board components each time the heat sink is removed.

In the Apps window, select Recovery, and then select Get started. Follow the on-screen instructions to create the recovery media. NOTE: All data and partitions on your recovery media will be deleted.
