Disposal Information

[European Union]
Information for users pursuant to Art. 22 of Legislative
Decree no. 188 of 20 November 2008 "Implementation
of Directive 2006/66/EC on batteries and accumulators
and waste batteries and accumulators"
The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol on the equipment
or its packaging indicates that, at the end of their useful
life, the batteries and accumulators must be collected
separately from other waste, to allow appropriate
treatment and recycling. The final user must take
the end-of-life equipment to appropriate separate
collection facilities for electrical and electronic waste,
or return it to the retailer.
In addition to that symbol, batteries, accumulators and
button cells containing over 0.0005 percent mercury
(chemical symbol Hg), over 0.002 percent cadmium
(chemical symbol Cd) or over 0.004 percent lead
(chemical symbol Pb) are marked with the chemical
symbol of the relative metal.
Appropriate separate collection for subsequent
sending of the waste batteries and accumulators
to recycling, treatment or environmentally friendly
disposal contributes to avoiding possible effects on
the environment and health and encourages recycling-
reuse of the materials of which they are made.
Illegal dumping of batteries and accumulators by the
user results in application of the penalties indicated
in Leg. Decree no. 152/2006 and Leg. Decree no.
188/2008.
