Thermostat Circuit Testing and Replacement

Condition: Water heater not operating. Digital
display shows error code 80 high water
temperature (over 200°F) (continued from
previous page).
Once cause of overheating condition
has been diagnosed and corrected, the
control board may be reset.
• Reconnect and switch on power to the water heater.
• Press button under "Reset" and hold for 3 seconds.
• Set thermostat to the desired setting.
• Water heater will start.
• Monitor temperatures for one complete heating cycle making
sure the maximum tank temperature remains below 207°F.
