5. After the settings are done, be sure to turn
the Sub power switch and the Main power
switch OFF first and then turn them ON.
(Otherwise the settings will not be regis-
tered. When turning the Main power switch
and the Sub power switch ON, wait for more
than 10 seconds after turning them OFF
before turning them back ON.)
3. Print a test copy to check operation
[Conduct this procedure when using the Control-
ler NIC.]
The following three test prints (reports) can be
printed.
• Configuration Page Print (including network
information)
• PSL Demo Page Print
• PSL Font List
Note:
PS Demo Page Print and PS Font List are avail-
able if the PostScript Kit is installed.
1. Turn the Main and Sub power switches ON.
2. Touch the "MACHINE" key.
3. Touch the "Controller" key.
4. Touch the "Report Type" key.
5. Select the type of report.
6. Touch the "Execute" key.
4. Ping to check network connection
[Conduct this procedure when using the Control-
ler NIC.]
1. Press the [Utility/Counter] button.
2. Touch the "Administrator Setting" key.
3. Touch the "Network Setting" key.
4. Touch the "Controller NIC Setting" key.
5. Touch the "Detail Setting" key, and touch the
"Next" key seven times. On the displayed
screen, touch the "Ping Send Address" key.
6. [Ping Send Address Setting] screen
Enter a valid address, and touch the "OK"
key.
7. Touch the "Check Connection" key and the
"Start" key.
8. Check the message.
If OK, <Completed normally> will appear.
If there is a problem, <Error> will appear.
=> Check if the address is correct and
the network is connected. Resend
again and make sure that the proce-
dure completes successfully.
9. Turn the Sub power switch OFF.

XII. Tandem setting
Note 1:
Two machines must be the same on the following
points.
• Main body firmware versions.
• Optional configurations.
• Firmware version of optional machines.
• Software DIP switch and utility setting.
(except for machine adjustment value)
• Setting for "User Authentication", "Section Authen-
tication" and "Section Management".
Note 2:
Tandem function cannot be used when "Security
Strengthen Mode" is used.
1. Turn the Main and Sub power switches OFF
of the Main body.
2. Connect the straight twisted-pair category 5
(100BASE-TX) or 5E to the machine NIC
connector (RJ-45).
Connect the straight cable from the Main
body to the hub.
Note:
You may use a cross cable to connect units
directly.

3. Turn the Main power switch ON.
4. Enter [Service mode].
Note:
Refer to procedures in the Service Manual
to enter into the Service Mode.
5. Touch the "System Setting" key.
6. Touch the "Software DIPSW Setting" key.
7. Set "20-7" to "ON (1)". (Tandem connection
recognition)
8. Turn the Sub and Main power switches OFF
of the Main body and then turn them ON.
9. Press the [Utility/Counter] button.
10. Touch the "Administrator Setting" key.
11. Touch the "Network Setting" key.
