Connecting the Ground
The nut and ground terminal on the generator should always be used to connect the generator to a suitable ground. The
ground cable should be #8 size wire minimum.
At the generator, connect the terminal of the ground cable between the lock washer and the nut (Figure 6) and tighten the
nut fully. Connect the other end of the ground cable to a suitable earth ground (ground rod).

MQ GDP5H portable generators
(S/N 5543730 and above) have
the aramature grounded.
These units are grounded
properly.

Some of the MQ GDP5H portable
generators (S/N 5541050 and
below) have been configured with
the ground of the aramature
floating . This configuration may
lead to an electrical shock if the generator is not properly
grounded. To prevent electrical shock, ALWAYS connect
generator to a good earth ground.
