3.3 Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What type of memory does my motherboard support?
Answer: The motherboard supports up to 256GB of RDIMM and 512GB of LRDIMM DDR4
memory. To enhance memory performance, do not mix memory modules of different speeds
and sizes. Please follow all memory installation instructions given on Section 2-3 in Chapter 2.
Question: How do I update my BIOS?
Answer: It is recommended that you do not upgrade your BIOS if you are not experiencing
any problems with your system. Updated BIOS files are located on our website at
www.supermicro.com/ResourceApps/BIOS_IPMI_Intel.html.

motherboard model and download the BIOS file to your computer. Also, check the current
BIOS revision to make sure that it is newer than your BIOS before downloading. Unzip the
BIOS file onto a bootable USB device in the UEFI shell. Run the batch file using the format
FLASH.NSH filename.rom from your bootable USB device in the UEFI shell to flash the BIOS.
Then your system will automatically reboot.
