Note
Several data les are present on the disk with the \xxxx" sux. hese are
default les that allow operation of the program with NO correction factors.
he values in these le are nominal values. For example: 100 percent for all
sensor cal factors; 20 dB for the 20 dB attenuators; 10.00, 20.00, 30 . . . dB
for the external step attenuator, and so on. his is provided as a convenience
only to demonstrate or learn about the program. he default conguration le
will access these les if no user-dened serial number is specied. A warning
message will be displayed if the program is using these default les.
Conguration File
he conguration (cong) le is the le that customizes this program for your usage. It contains
specic information for your setup. Some of the items contained in this le include:
the HP-IB addresses of all the test equipment
the HP-IB address of the analyzer under test
the model numbers of the test equipment
the serial numbers of sensors, xed attenuators, and the external 10 dB step attenuator
the disk drive locations (path and directories)
other items specic to your setup
Ideally, only one conguration le should exist on the program disk so that the program
will automatically load only that le. However, it is possible to have several conguration
les stored on the same disk. In this case, the program will list all of the available les and
prompt you to select one. his is useful if more than one setup is commonly used or if one
performance test software disk serves several workstations.
Getting Started
Caution
Make a copy of the performance test software disk for day-to-day use. he
master copy should remain stored in a safe place. his will decrease the
likelihood of damage to the master disk.
Note
he DOS version, which is used in conjunction with HP BASIC for Windows,
requires the proper set up of the HP-IB interface card and drivers. his
document assumes that users are familiar with HP BASIC for Windows | that
it is running and has been properly installed and congured.
First, nd all serial numbers of the calibration devices required, such as external step
attenuators, sensors, and xed attenuators for both 50
and 75
devices (if applicable). Verify
the HP-IB addresses you will be using, as well as the mass storage directories and locations.
If you plan to operate this program only from the supplied
oppy disk, insert the disk into the
computer's disk drive and skip step 1 next.
