1 Introduction

General description

The differential unit is of the single-reduction type featuring a
hypoid gear set. The bevel pinion is mounted on two taper roller
bearings and a third straight roller bearing. The bevel pinion
setting relative to the drive gear can be adjusted by varying the
thickness of the shim pack located between the inner pinion
bearing cup and the carrier bearing shoulder. The differential
assembly drive gear welded is supported on two taper roller
bearings and is adjusted for end play through two threaded ring
nut adjusters.
