IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WHEN USING ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS, ESPECIALLY WHEN CHILDREN ARE PRESENT, BASIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD ALWAYS BE FOLLOWED, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING:

TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK:

  • Always unplug the air sanitizer from the electrical outlet immediately after using and before cleaning.
  • Always place the air sanitizer at least three (3) feet from heat sources such as stoves, radiators, or heaters.
  • DO NOT reach for an appliance that has fallen into water.
  • DO NOT place or store appliance where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink.
  • DO NOT place in or drop into water or other liquid.
  • Check your air sanitizer plug connections. Faulty wall outlet connections or loose plugs can cause the outlet or plug to overheat. Be sure the plug fits tightly in the outlet.

This product complies with the maximum allowable concentration of ozone of 0.050 parts per million by volume (ppmv) in a 24-hour period. The Health Canada Guideline 2010 recommends that the maximum exposure limit, based on an averaging time of 8 hours, is 0.020 ppmv or less when tested in a sealed, controlled room approximately 30 m3.

  • Always unplug the air sanitizer when not in use.
  • DO NOT operate the air sanitizer with a damaged plug, or after the air sanitizer malfunctions, or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return to HoMedics Consumer Relations for examination, electrical or mechanical adjustment, or repair.
  • To disconnect the air sanitizer, first turn controls to the off position, then remove from outlet.

  • DO NOT block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use where openings may become blocked.

HOW TO USE

Plug into a standard household electrical outlet. The power button functions as follows: First press, auto mode. Second press, continuous mode. Third press, off.

  1. Auto Mode (blue light) – Press the power button once to enter auto mode. The power light will glow blue. The sterilization process will operate for 1 hour and the night-light will operate for 5 minutes and turn off. Subsequently, when the motion sensor detects human motion, the sterilization process will operate for 1 hour and the night-light will activate based on low light conditions for 5 minutes and turn off unless the night-light is set to off.
  2. Continuous Mode (green light) – Press the power button twice to enter continuous mode. The power light will glow green. The sterilization process is always on and the night-light will operate for 5 minutes and turn off. Subsequently, when the motion sensor detects human motion, the night-light will activate based on low light conditions for 5 minutes and turn off unless the night-light is set to off.
  3. Press the power button a third time to turn the product off. The power light will turn off. The night-light will not operate.

ADJUSTING THE NIGHT-LIGHT BRIGHTNESS

The night-light has 3 brightness levels. While the product is on, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds. The night-light brightness will cycle through the low, medium, high, or off settings. Release the power button at the desired brightness to select your brightness setting.

Repeat the process to select a different night-light setting. The cycle will start from the previous setting unless the product is unplugged. If unplugged, it will start cycling from the low setting.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

FOR BEST PERFORMANCE, WE RECOMMEND:

  • Clean the outside of the unit with a dry cloth as needed.
  • NEVER use water, wax, polish, or any chemical solution to clean the outside of the unit.
  • Clean the side vent openings with a damp cloth or the brush attachment of your vacuum as needed.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION

Unit will not operate

  • Unit is not plugged in
  • Unit is not turned on
  • No power at unit
  • Plug unit in
  • Press the power button to turn the power on
  • Check circuits, fuses; try a different outlet

Night-light does not work

  • Night-light setting set to off
  • Reset night-light setting
