Finish planning the pipe system before mounting and installing the aspirating
smoke detector and the electrical systems and equipment.
To note during planning
You are familiar with the area to be protected and the requirements that must
be met.
The fire sections have been defined in zones.
The maximum size of a zone in m² has been specified in local regulations and
standards.
The ambient and climate conditions of the area to be protected
Movements of air (e.g., air conditioning systems, fans)
Usable cavities in the ceiling or floor
Possible air stratification with high ceilings
Concentration of dust around the pipe system
Install a filter box if there is a visible dust load, even if it is temporary.
Planning steps
Follow the steps below to ensure successful planning.
1. Be aware of the performance characteristics of the aspirating smoke detectors.
2. Be aware of the possible topologies as well as their advantages and
disadvantages.
3. Be aware of the place of installation and system requirements.
4. Use the software 'FXS2056 ASD Asyst‑Tool V3'.
5. Work through these points in order. See the following chapters for more details.
Mark the position and number of the aspirating holes on a plan.
Place a detection grid over the aspirating holes.
Decide on the topology and mark it on the plan.
Calculate the pipe system using the software 'FXS2056 ASD Asyst‑Tool
V3'.
