Scheduled restart and Trial Mode

Menu path
With MSPS devices, you can find this information under "System > Restart".
You can find the "Trial Mode" in MSPS devices under "System > Configuration".
Note
Upon changes to the configuration, there is a risk that the user may lock
himself/herself out of the device as a result of incorrect or unintended changes
(especially with remote access).
The "Scheduled Restart" function restarts the device after a specified time.
This, combined with "Trial Mode", gives you a backstop against misconfigurations.
"Trial Mode" disables cyclic saving of changes to the flash. Changes are only
stored in volatile RAM.
As long as you do not use "Write Startup Config" to save the configuration before
the specified time runs out, the device will restart and discard all changes that were
made after "Trial Mode" was activated.
Recommendation
Use "Trial Mode" if you wish to test a configuration.
Trial Mode does apply new settings but it does not save them to the configuration
file (Startup Configuration).
1. Start "Trial Mode" and enter a time for the restart.
2. Make changes without pressing "Write Startup Config".
3. Check the result.
4. If the result works, then reset the configuration mode to "Automatic Save" and
cancel the scheduled restart. In the event of an error, wait until the specified
time elapses and the device will discard the changes.
5. If the SCALANCE device supports the option for Config backups, you can
select which backup will be activated after the time runs out.
