Verify firmware update
After you have updated the firmware, verify that all components—BIOS and CPLD, are running the correct version.
● To check the BIOS version, use the dmidecode -s system-version command. The BIOS version also displays during
system bootup.
● To check the CPLD version, use the showSystemInfo command if you are using Dell DIAGs. Or use the
cpldupgradetool --cpldver command if you are using EDA-DIAGs.
Firmware update staging
ONIE and the open compute project (OCP) recommends the following name for the firmware updater image:
onie-firmware-x86_64-VENDOR_MACHINE-r0.bin
Get the ONIE firmware updater image from the Dell support site at www.dell.com/support. Use this image to update the
BIOS and CPLD on supported platforms. The current firmware version updater image supports the BIOS and CPLD image on
supported platforms.
Firmware update staging from NOS
1. Download the ONIE firmware image from the Dell support site to your local network.
2. Download the ONIE updater binary image to the switch or target.
3. Mount the ONIE-Boot partition where the ONIE tool resides.
You can clear or remove any previously staged firmware using the purge command.
ONIE:/ # onie-fwpkg purge
