Preface
This manual describes the IBM 2790 Data Communication
System with the IBM 2715 Transmission Control Unit as
the system controller. For information about the IBM
1800 system used as a system controller, see Systems Ref­
erence Library manual, IBM 1800 Data Acquisition and
Control System Functional Characteristics, GA26-5918-7
(with TNL N26-0241) or later edition.
Before using this manual, you should have a background
in telecommunications and experience in using the IBM
System/360. This manual is designed for use as a compre­
hensive reference manual by programmers and systems
analysts. Information about the following 2790 system
units is presented:

IBM 2791 Area Station
IBM 2793 Area Station
IBM 2795 Data Entry Unit
IBM 2796 Data Entry Unit
