Tyres age, even if they have not been used or
have only been used occasionally. Cracking of
the tread and sidewall rubber, sometimes
accompanied by carcass deformation, is an
evidence of ageing. Old and aged tyres must be
checked by experts to determine the suitability
for further use.
Using tyres that are excessively worn or
improperly inflated can cause a crash in
which you can be seriously hurt or
killed.
Follow all instructions in this owner's
manual regarding tyre inflation and
maintenance.
Air Pressure
Properly inflated tyres are most important for
safety, and will provide the best combination of
handling, tread life, and riding comfort.
Generally, underinflated tyres wear unevenly,
adversely affect handling, and are more likely
to fail from being overheated. Underinflated
tyres can also cause wheel damage in rocky
terrain. Overinflated tyres make your
motorcycle ride harshly, are more prone to
damage from surface hazards, and wear
unevenly.
Make sure the valve stem caps are secure. If
necessary, install new caps.
