You may use this product with a chuck adaptor (not
included) for the purposes listed below:
 Drilling in all types of wood products (lumber, plywood,
paneling, composition board and hard board)
 Drilling in ceramics, plastics, fiberglass, and laminates
 Drilling in metals
 Hammer drilling in concrete, brick, or other masonry
SWITCH TRIGGER
See Figure 2, page 10.
The variable speed switch trigger delivers higher speed with
increased trigger pressure and lower speed with decreased
trigger pressure.
 To turn the tool ON, depress the switch trigger.
 To turn the tool OFF, release the switch trigger.
NOTE: A whistling or ringing noise coming from the switch
during use is a normal part of the switch function.
NOTE: Running at low speeds under constant usage may
cause the tool to become overheated. If this occurs, cool the
tool by running it without a load and at full speed.
LED LIGHT
See Figure 3, page 10.
The LED emits light from the front of the tool when the switch
trigger is depressed.
If the tool is not in use, the time-out feature will cause the
light to start fading and then shut off.
The LED light illuminates only when there is a charged bat-
tery pack in the tool.
DIRECTION OF ROTATION SELECTOR
(FORWARD/REVERSE/CENTER LOCK)
See Figure 4, page 10.
Set the direction of rotation selector in the OFF (center lock)
position to lock the switch trigger and help prevent accidental
starting when not in use.
Position the direction of rotation selector to the left of the
switch trigger for forward operation. Position the selector to
the right of the switch trigger to reverse the direction.
NOTE: The tool will not run unless the direction of rotation
selector is pushed fully to the left or right.
NOTICE:
To prevent gear damage, always allow the chuck to
come to a complete stop before changing the direction
of rotation.
OPERATION
INSTALLING/REMOVING BATTERY PACK
See Figure 5, page 10.
 Lock the switch trigger.
 Insert the battery pack into the product as shown.
 Make sure the latches on each side of the battery pack
snap in place and that battery pack is secured in the
product before beginning operation.
 Depress the latches to remove the battery pack.
For complete charging instructions, see the operator's manu-
als for your battery pack and charger.
WARNING:
Battery tools are always in operating condition. Lock the
switch when not in use or carrying at your side, when
installing or removing the battery pack, and when install-
ing or removing bits.
INSTALLING/REMOVING SDS-PLUS BITS
See Figure 6, page 11.
This tool is equipped with an SDS-Plus connection system.
Only use bits designed for use with the SDS-Plus connec-
tion system.
To install bits:
 Remove the battery pack.
 Clean the bit and grease it with machine grease before
installing it into the chuck.
 Insert the bit into the chuck and push the bit until it is
inserted as far as possible into the chuck.
 Pull on the bit to make sure it has locked into place.
To remove bits:
 Pull back the clamp collar and remove the bit.
NOTE: When hammer drilling, use only bits with hard metal
and SDS Plus shaft.
CHUCK ADAPTOR (NOT INCLUDED)
See Figure 7, page 11.
For drilling in metal, wood, and plastic with non-SDS Plus
drill bits, a chuck adaptor may be used.
NOTE: Use with Rotational Drilling Mode only. Use of
Rotary Hammer mode will damage the tool's mechanism
when used for fastening or drilling with non-SDS-Plus bits.
BREAK-IN AND COLD STARTS
A new hammer drill may require up to five hours of operation
for break-in. When stored for long periods or in low tem-
peratures, a warm-up period of a few seconds to a couple
of minutes may be required in hammer mode.
