C. Connect one-place wire connector between oil
sensor module and oil sensor.
12. Route key switch yellow wire and key switch orange
wire behind starter motor to area of starter solenoid.
13. See Figure 130. Connect key switch yellow wire
terminal to starter motor black/white wire terminal (I).
14. Install flat washer and key switch orange wire ring
terminal (J) onto starter solenoid post.
15. Install two Phillips screws (K) to fasten regulator to
flywheel guard. Alternately tighten screws to 60-80
lb-in (6.8-9 N-m).
16. If equipped with regulator red jumper wire, proceed
as follows:
A. Install jumper wire (L) ring terminal onto starter
solenoid post.
B. If extra length of jumper wire is provided, coil wire
behind starter motor so that connector hangs
adjacent to starter solenoid as shown.
C. Connect jumper wire connector (M) between
starter solenoid post and regulator.
17. Install flat washer, lock washer, and hex nut (N) onto
starter solenoid post. Tighten hex nut to 27-35 lb-in
(3-4 N-m).
18. Connect two-place wire connector (O) between stator
and regulator.
19. Install cable strap capturing two regulator wire
connectors to starter solenoid housing.

Air Cleaner

1. Wash air cleaner cover, air cleaner base, and duckbill
air valve in warm, soapy water, or use a soft bristle
brush and a portable hand vacuum to remove all dust
and dirt.
2. See Figure 131. Hang gasket (A) on two pins next to
mounting flange of air cleaner base, so that tab on
gasket is at the bottom with the company logo facing
outside.
NOTE: Improper gasket installation will block the
carburetor float bowl vent. The engine will not run
if the float bowl vent is blocked. See inset of Figure
131.
3. Install air cleaner base (B) onto carburetor mounting
studs.
4. Install two hex flange nuts (C) onto carburetor
mounting studs. Tighten nuts to 30-50 lb-in (3.4-5.7
N-m).
5. Install trim panel (D) onto inside carburetor mounting
stud. Start hex flange nut (E) onto stud.
6. Install hex flange screw (F) to fasten trim panel and
air cleaner base to control bracket. Tighten screw to
40-60 lb-in (4.5-6.8 N-m).
7. Tighten hex flange nut on inside carburetor mounting
stud to 25-35 lb-in (2.8-4 N-m).
8. Install breather hose (G) to port on air cleaner base.
Verify that tab on valve cover side of breather hose is
at the top as shown in Figure 132.
9. Gently tap air filter cartridge (H) on a hard surface to
loosen dirt and debris.
NOTE: Use of pressurized air or solvents will damage
air filter cartridge.
