    Theory To connect your printer in a TCP/IP network environment, you must make sure that the internal network addresses in the printer have been set.     Making the Connection Ethernet Interface An RJ45 connector can be used as the Ethernet interface for this printer. When connecting your printer to an Ethernet network, the tasks you perform depend on how you plan to set the printer’s IP (Internet Protocol) address. IP Address—A unique identifier for each device on a TCP/IP network.

BOOTP BOOTP (Bootstrap Protocol) is an Internet protocol that enables a diskless workstation to discover (1) its own IP address, (2) the IP address of a BOOTP server on the network, and (3) a file that can be loaded into memory to boot the workstation.
