FASTENING THE SEAT
BELTS
Lap-sash seat belts
Lap-sash seat belts allow freedom
of movement but will lock when the
webbing is tugged very quickly, or with
any rapid change in vehicle motion such
as braking or impact, or when the vehicle
attitude is a substantial angle away from
the normal.
The front seats are equipped with
lap-sash seat belts. These belts have
retractors with inertia locks that keep
them safely stowed when not in use.
The locks allow the belts to remain
comfortable on users, but will lock in
position during a collision.
The rear seats have lap-sash seat belts.
The rear seat belt retractors operate
in two modes, emergency locking
mode and, for child-restraint systems,
automatic locking mode.
