3.4 Configure Variable Speed Compressors (Select Units)

Selected heat pumps have variable speed compressors designed to more quickly and efficiently reach a
temperature set point. The compressor's performance can be controlled using a turbo boost mode (in the
shortcuts menus) or two different types of efficiency modes.
Turbo Boost
Upon demand, the heat pump's compressor can be set to maximum speed to heat or cool the water
quickly. This is regardless of any previously set efficiency mode settings.
The system will heat or cool the water with the compressor speed set to maximum. This will continue until
l
the set temperature is reached. Then the configured efficiency mode (scheduled or 24-hour) will resume.
See "Turbo Boost" on the facing page.
l
Efficiency Mode - 24 Hour
When using this mode, the compressor increases to a higher rate of speed until the temperature set point is
reached.
The compressor speed will then lower to maintain that temperature set point. This will continue as long as
l
there is water flow.
See "Set Efficiency Mode to 24 Hour" on the facing page.
l
Efficiency Mode - Filtration Schedule
When using this mode, the compressor's speed is set to heat or cool the water within 60% of the
circulation pump's filtration time period. This is the highest efficiency operational mode, providing the
lowest cost of operation.
Example - If the filtration period is set from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, the system attempts to bring the water to
l
set point by 4:00 pm at optimal performance.
See "Set Efficiency Mode to Filtration Schedule" on page 48.
